This intimate documentary is an interwoven coming of age story of seven trans young adults in the southern city of Austin, Texas. Filmed over three years, the documentary invites us travel with our subjects as they grow up. We watch them face up to family judgment, find voice in DIY punk bands, navigate the unknowns of hormone therapy, move through the transitions of top surgery, and do this all with courage. Our subjects speak honestly and directly about their lives. They are articulate, self-aware and not afraid to voice provocative beliefs
Rebecca Adler (Director) has been a clinical social worker for over 10 years, specializing in therapeutic and creative work with youth. She is interested in exploring subcultures, social justice issues, and the representation of individual psychology as it translates to sound and the moving image. Gender, as it is socially constructed, is false. Hopefully, this film gives us all more freedom to live our own definitions.
Jimmy Spice (Composer) liquidskulls.bandcamp.com. Musical progeny. Writes a song a week on average. Embodies the creation and destruction of the life force itself. Cares about humans and his attention and heart can be felt in all of his music.
